The Youth’s Companion was a magazine published in a newspaper format from 1827 to 1929. It was the first periodical written for children, but by the late 1800s it had become a publication for the whole family. At the height of its popularity in the 1890s, more than 500,000 Americans subscribed to it.
In the June 13, 1907 issue of The Youth’s Companion, the Director of the Census makes a prediction about what the population of the year 2000 will be, on page 284. There is also news about immigration in the current events article on page 290.
